In March, Architect JUNG Donghyun gave a speech at the 2019 CADEX forum in Shanghai, titled “Contemporariness in Place.” His talk discusses the local culture’s influence on the design from a macroscopic to a microscopic view. Analysis of the projects of PLAT ASIA, Xi’an Weihe River Culture Park, inspired by the Zhou Dynasty Context, Xiangshawan Desert Lotus Hotel, focuses on the ovoo in Mongolian culture. Between the traditional local context and the eastern philosophy, natural language in design presents a unique scene; this practice also includes the Forest Dining Club, Ridge Museum, and Jinshanling Riding Club.
