The Sharing Session under the subject Library focuses on the book “Zen and Japanese Culture” by D.T. Suzuki. The book is a collection of the author’s lecture series on Eastern Zen culture, its history, and its influence on social life in Japan from the early 20th century. PLAT ASIA has practiced tourism design, planning, and architecture under the theme of Zen culture. This session not only consolidates knowledge and broadens our insight, but also clarifies the cultural context and design perspectives in PLAT ASIA’s philosophy.

The designer Wang Jiuhui first introduced the outline of this book and the relationship between Japanese culture and the Zen idea. During the discussion round, two architects visited us and shared their points. Architect Zhang shares the branch of Chinese Zen; Architect Bian Baoyang refers to the Chinese Zen and broadcast routes in history; Architect JUNG Donghyun talks about his observation that Japanese life is influenced by the philosophy of Zen, according to his study and work experience in Japan for ten years; Architect Ha share the story Zen born in ancient India and spread to ancient China. This session inspired our teams a lot.
